Château Siran 2009 Mezza bottiglia

Château Siran is located in the village of Labarde, in the southern part of the Margaux appellation, on a table-land of siliceous gravel.The sun exposure of the vines and the fine vineyard soil help to produce a wine that is in keeping with the elegance, which has made Margaux wines world famous. During the summer, prior to harvesting, bunches of unripe grapes are removed and the leaves are thinned out to produce maximum ripeness and concentration in the grapes. They are picked by hand in small crates and sorted first in the vineyard, and later upon arrival in the cellar, to eliminate any fruit that is less than perfect. Fermentation temperatures are carefully controlled and malolactic fermentation takes place in the barrels. The wine is then aged in barrels made with Allier forest oak, 40 to 50% of which are renewed each year. When the time comes to blend, only the finest vats of wine are reserved for sale under the château label. Since 2003, the well-known oenologist Denis Dubourdieu provides precious advice in order to make the best possible wine. Each year, château Siran's label commemorates a major event that has occured during the vintage year. Previously owned by the Count Toulouse-Lautrec family, Château Siran has belonged to the William Alain Miailhe family since 1859.
